No in-room slippers by the way. :)
- The grounds are expansive, so expect a bunch of walking unless you are willing to wait up to 10 minutes for the tram.
- Unless you plan to spend your time at the resort you will need to rent a car. The hotel is isolated and while there are on-site options for just about everything you'll need, if you intend to experience the Big Island, you'll need on-demand transportation to cover the distance between the resort and the island's attractions.
Our family greatly enjoyed our time here. Just being at the hotel was a magical experience. Like the rest of the island, staying at the hotel was like being in a different world, surrounded by wonders.
The resort is gorgeous from the view to the property itself. My experience was good minus a couple of things that were not to my liking. There is a tram and boat within the resort that serve as a transportation's method to your room. Being that the property is so big it is necessary depending on what building your room is located in. The tram runs every 15 minutes from the front but is not 24 hrs. Which was a minus in my book being that i was in the ocean view building and wanted to get an early start to my day seeing all The Big Island had to offer. I also had to move rooms due to a couple of cockroaches in the first room i checked into. But i did not have that same problem in the new room i was transferred to. If you are going to enjoy and spend most of your time at the resort this is the perfect place. If you are going to explore The Big Island i do not suggest this location.
The hotel is great, service and amenities as expected from a Hilton. The place is huge and has plenty of activities for both adults and kids. The lagoon is a great micro snorkeling area that gives you a taste of what real ocean snorkeling is like without the trouble of getting on a boat or finding an easy access beach. Pools are very cool and large, though a little cold for my taste even when it's hot and sunny out. We had a great time, but while on the big island, there are so many other things to do, I wouldn't stay here for more than a couple nights before I venture out to see more of what the island has to offer.
- The Palace Tower rooms are spacious and comfortable.
- There are not a lot of activities for children during inclement weather.
Amazing, beautiful resort. So much to do. Everyone on the staff was friendly and accommodating. I was lucky enough to attend their luau festivities and I would highly recommend giving it a shot if you will be in the area. Food was great, the theatrics were very entertaining and the drinks were STRONG. I can definitely see myself coming back.
- The quality of the food at the restaurants isn't great. It's not bad, but certainly uninspired and not particularly tasty. You'll have a better, albeit less convenient, dining experience off grounds.
I am staying Place Tower which is one of the cheapest room the Hilton has. But it is super spacious and have a golf course view which is not bad. Spacious powder room I love and dress room is perfect keeping the room itself tidy. Bath tub is bit small.
The grounds are extraordinary and the staff are ridiculously friendly. There's enough to do here that one runs the risk of forgetting to see the island. It's a great vacation spot and worth the substantial cost of the experience.
